Fire - Kristin Cashore : Giveaway

Okay, so I'm not here okay. You haven't seen me, 'cos I'm in The Writing Cave - Writing :-) But I've a treat for you while I'm away . . .

But first my thanks to everyone who has bought The Cold Kiss of Death, I'm really thrilled that you've let me know how much you've enjoyed reading it! Yay! *Big happy smiles*.

In another fab news, The Sweet Scent of Blood - Süßer als Blut - released in German [by my lovely German publishers Goldmann] two days ago [earlier than I thought!] It's so amazing to think my book's been translated into another language. *more big happy smiles* I'm just sad that I know no German *sigh* but here's a big HELLO and welcome to any new German speakers who might be reading.

Now on to the giveaway! Thanks to my lovely UK publishers Gollancz I have two ARCs of Fire : Kristin Cashore due for release on 17th Sept in the UK and 5th Oct in the US to giveaway to two lucky winners.

!!!LOOK AT THE GORGEOUS UK COVER!!!

A must-read title for all fans of Patrick Rothfuss and Trudi Canavan, FIRE is an exceptional fantasy novel. From the deft characterisation to the gripping story, the fast-paced action to the evocative prose, this is one of the strongest fantasy novels of the year. Set in a world of stunningly beautiful, exceptionally dangerous monsters, Fire is one of the most dangerous monsters of all - a human one. Marked out by her vivid red hair, she's more than attractive. Fire is mesmerising. But with this extraordinary beauty comes influence and power. People who are susceptible to her appeal will do anything for her attention, and for her affection. They will turn away from their families, their work, and their duties for her. They will forget their responsibilities to please her . . . and worse, crush nations, neglect kingdoms and abuse their power. Aware of her power, and afraid of it, Fire lives in a corner of the world away from people, and away from temptation. Until the day comes when she is needed - a day when, for her king, she has to stand against not only his enemies, but also against herself . . .

Both Fire, and Kristin's first book, Graceling are about characters with POWERS. So t
o win a copy of Fire by Kristin Cashore, please leave a comment telling me what super power you would want to have. My super power choice, unsurprisingly, would be to streeeetch time so I could have at least twice as much of it, or more to do my loooong to-do list *g*.

Two winners to be drawn by Random.org. Contest open to all, and ends end of day [anywhere] Thursday 2oth August 2009.

ETA: 21.8.09 8.30 am Giveaway Closed!

That cover looks amazing! I definitely like this one a lot more than the US version.

As for my power, it would be the power to mimic other people's powers. :D I know, it seems like a cheap power, but imagine all the fun you could have doing anything you wanted.

Thanks

I love the cover too. But anyways choosing a power has always been difficult for me. When I was little flying seemed so cool, but ever since my dad died I've always wanted a power where I can see him and talk to him. Because I was only 16 I didn't really know him. So thats the power I want.

What a fantastic contest!

If I could have a super power, I'm pretty sure it would be to teleport. Or maybe control the weather, but I'm really leaning towards teleporting. Because I can't drive and it is a pain in the butt to get anywhere. xD

I love the cover too! Bound to attract a lot of readers. I wish you mucho success with the book.

My superpower would be "firestarter". I've always maintained that it would make for a great defense for a woman while walking alone through a parking lot or taking an elevator after work in the evening. If anyone messes with you, with a flick of your wrists they're incinerated! OMG, maybe I should start writing horror or something instead of erotic romance.

Best, Keta Diablo

Amazing contest as always =)

If i had superpowers i think i'd like teleportation, if would be really really amazing to be able to visit friends and family around the world and go on vacations for on day on the other side of the world, just like that.I haven't seen my best friend in 3 years, because she now lives in the US and i'd love to visit her...so teleportation it is for me.
It would also be a gain of time
