Two book deal - German Rights

Oh wow!!!! I am utterly delighted to post the following . . .

PRESS RELEASE – GERMAN RIGHTS IN URBAN FANTASY DEBUT SOLD

Krystyna Kujawinska, Foreign Rights Director at Orion, has sold German rights in two urban fantasies by debut novelist Suzanne McLeod to Nicole Geismann of Goldmann.

World rights in the series, which opens with THE SWEET SCENT OF BLOOD (to be published in the UK in September 2008), were acquired by Jo Fletcher at Gollancz from John Jarrold in 2007.

‘I couldn’t be happier for Suzanne, or for Gollancz and Goldmann,' said John Jarrold. 'And many congratulations to Krystyna.’

. . . and my own thanks to John, Jo and Krystyna and to Nicole at Goldmann. Yay! She loved my book!

Ms. McLeod,
I read about your upcoming book on another blog. Is is YA or adult? I am a teacher and my middle and high school students read and review ARCs for Barnes and Noble. We would be thrilled if you would consider sending us a few ARCs to read. Publishers usually send us 10 copies, but we are thankful for whatever we receive.

Please let me know if you are interested or if you would like more information.

Your book looks amazing! Congratulations!

Dear Ms Duncan

Thank you so much for your interest. I am delighted that you like the sound of my book ;) and would be thrilled if your students were to review it.

But not to be in anyway negative, I will say that The Sweet Scent of Blood is primarily intended for adult readers, rather than YA.

I appreciate that a lot of YA readers are very widely read, and very often read books outside of the YA genre/age range, I know I did myself ;)

But whether my book would be appropriate for your students is possibly a question. If you wanted to contact me to discuss it further, then please do so. My email is suzannemcleod (at) spellcrackers (dot)com

At the risk of being obvious, please replace the (at) with @ and (dot) with . when emailing.

Thank you again for your congratulations :)

Suzanne
