Saying that . . .

Happy Book Birthday to Blood Sacrifice and Aftermath!

Happy Book Birthday to Maria Lima for Blood Sacrifice, # 5 in her fabulous Blood Lines series - and don't forget you can
leave a comment here to win
your choice of one of Maria's Blood Lines books
(Int. ends midnight 30th Aug GMT)

All’s fair in blood and war. . .

Talk about wedding crashers from hell. Keira Kelly and her sexy vampire king, Adam, are about to tie the proverbial knot—sort of—when an uninvited blood relative shows up to cast a long, dark shadow over the happy occasion. It seems the dreaded forces of the Dark Fae have declared war on Keira’s family!

And Happy Book Birthday to Ann Aguirre for Aftermath*, #5 in the wonderful Sirantha Jax series.

During the war against murderous, flesh-eating aliens, grimspace "jumper" Sirantha Jax decided to go it alone. The cost of her actions: the destruction of modern interstellar travel-and the lives of six hundred Conglomerate soldiers. Now she's on trial fro dereliction of duty, desertion, mass murder, high treason...and her life.

I've been lucky enough to read both these awesome books and if you're a fan like me, you'll love them, and if you're not, then give these fantastic series a try, and I'm sure you'll love them as much as I do :-D

ETA: Via Nicole Peeler - an impressive list of lots of lots of great new releases here at Hanging with Bells blog!

*Warning: This book made me cry (It takes a lot to do that when I'm reading :-)) - Ann is an *evil character torturing author*- and once you've finished Aftermath, you're going to be desperate to read Endgame! #justsayin' *g*

Giveaway: Shady Lady - Ann Aguirre

Wow! Time Flies! It's week # 11 of my 16 weeks of giveaways to celebrate the the upcoming US release of book 2  The Cold Kiss of Death (out 26th April), and the UK release of book 3 The Bitter Seed of Magic (Out Now and available from The Book Depository with Free WorldWide Del) *insert shameless self-promo plug* *g* Giveaway now closed!

BIG THANKS again to everyone who's bought it! You all Rock!.  And Hello and Welcome to all you new blog visitors and followers, and thanks to everyone for joining in with the celebrations.

So this week's giveaway is for
Shady Lady: Corine Solomon # 3 (US) (UK)
by the fabulous (SuperWriter*!) Ann Aguirre.

Here's the blurb from Amazon

I'd spent my whole life settling, trying not to attract attention, and generally doing whatever it took to keep other people happy. I didn't want to do that again. Not when I was finally comfortable in my own skin. Sure, there were certain challenges, like a drug lord who wanted me dead, and the fact that I owed a demon a debt that he could call due at any moment. But everybody's got problems, right?

Whenever Corine Solomon touches an object, she immediately knows its history. But her own future concerns her more and more. Now back in Mexico, she's running her pawnshop and trying to get a handle on her strange new powers, for she might need them. And soon.

Then former ally Kel Ferguson walks through her door. Heavily muscled and tattooed, Kel looks like a convict but calls himself a holy warrior. This time, he carries a warning for Corine: the Montoya cartel is coming for her--but they don't just pack automatic weapons. The Montoyas use warlocks, shamans, voodoo priests--anything to terminate trouble. And Corine has become enemy number one...

Ooh! I can't wait! And there's not long to go now, as Shady Lady releases in the US on the 5th April, and the UKon the 12th May!

Now there's three things I think of when it comes to the Corine books, and they are Butch, the Blond Chihuahua, Mexico, and cocktails! And the last two together made me think of holidays! Yay!

Now Mexico is one place I'd love to visit for a holiday! And if you want a chance to win a copy of Shady Lady, then please leave me a comment telling me your favourite place for a holiday, either one you've been to, or one you'd like to go to.

How to enter:

Leave a comment with your fav holiday place.

Please leave a way to contact you (email in comment: Please remember to replace @ with [at] to forestall spam - or your twitter name - no way to contact you - no entry).

Mayan-Ruins-Tulum-Mexico

*SuperWriter Ann writes urban fantasy (the 'awesome and often spine-chilling' Corine Solomon series), romantic science fiction (the 'OMG wonderful, and wait till you read Aftermath: Ann is a brilliant, evil, character torturing, author' Jax series), apocalyptic paranormal romance (the 'so looking forward to these' Ellen Connor books with Carrie Lofty), paranormal romantic suspense 'with swoonworthy heros'(as Ava Gray), and post-apocalyptic dystopian young adult fiction: Enclave. 'You will need to read about Deuce and Fade, they will blow you away'!Yep, I'm a big fan of Ms. Aguirre's writing . . . in case you hadn't noticed *g*.

Please note: My usual blog policy is that I try to reply to all comments on the blog, but for ease of admin I won't be replying to any comments made on any of the giveaway posts during the 16 weeks. Sorry, but it makes it much harder to sort out the winner. However I do read and enjoy all the comments, and will, of course, continue to reply to comments on any other post, so if you have a question for me, leave it on one of those, thank you :-)

All book links lead to Amazon (UK/US) or the Book Depository, and contain affiliate links. I've decided to go affiliate as I love giving books away (and not just as a way of shameless self-promo), but boy does it get expensive.

x/posted to LJ. Comment here or there. One entry per person.

Don't forget to check the blog's sidebar for more chances to win my books, and the opportunity to help those in Japan through the British Red Cross at Genre for Japan, where you can bid for the chance to have your name as a character in my next book, or a critique of your writing by me, starting Monday 28th March. Plus there's over a hundred other wonderful donations, so why not go and check them out!

Reading Matters!

I love seeing what other folk are reading (yep, I'm nosy like that *g*) so I thought I'd do a quick post to share my February reads with you. Oh, and maybe I had an ulterior motive, in that I decided to be really evil and make you all Green-Eyedwith an attack of the jealously Demons, when you see what fab books* a certain author gave me to read after I begged, pleaded and promised them my first born asked them nicely :-D

I LOVED all of the books I read this month with a passion (it doesn't always happen that way, but I choose not to talk about those), and if you're already a fan of these authors, then these books are a must have!  If the authors are new to you, then why not give them a try, hopefully you'll love them too. :-)

Mercy Blade- Faith Hunter ( I ♥ Jane & Beast)
Bite Me- Christopher Moore (ROFLMAO!)
*Enclave- Ann Aguirre (Wonderful, heartwrenching characters in a fascinating, dangerous future world)
*Aftermath- Ann Aguirre (made me cry ... now, need Endgame so bad)
Blast from the Past- Toni L. P. Kelner (A truly clever, engaging mystery)
Blue Diablo- Ann Aguirre (Makes me want to visit Mexico! + I ♥ Butch *g*)
Kitty Goes to War- Carrie Vaughn (Ooh! Cormac! Wow!)
The Fallen Blade- Jon Courtenay Grimwood (Brilliant historical fantasy with a different take on vamps)
Green-Eyed Demon- Jaye Wells - (special category; crit partner book, has my all time fav scene EVAH! Congrats, Jaye on GED's release! Yay!)

Home Improvement: Undead Edition- Editors: Charlaine Harris and Toni L.P. Kelner (I've always felt extremely privileged, and awed, for my little pixie story to be with all the fabulous stories in this book, even more so now I've read the rest *pinches herself*)

So that's 9 wonderfully, engrossing books (though, gross might be a more appropriate adjective for parts of Enclave *shudders*. Ann Aguirre is a truly EVIL, BRILLIANT AUTHOR! You will be desperate to finish this book to find out WHAT HAPPENS!) for this month, and 13* fantastic short stories, which is less than my January total, but still good going.

So how about all of you. What great books have you read and loved in February?

Oh, and of course, the book I'm really looking forward to reading next is the one in my current celebratory giveaway - River Marked by Patricia Briggs. Can't wait! *g* The giveaway is still live until midnight (GMT) 3rd March. To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is tell me your favourite cake/cookie. But, please, don't read the comments already made, there's only so much drool my blog can take *g*

Plus check out my blog's sidebar for details of how you could win copies of The Bitter Seed of Magic #3, and The Cold Kiss of Death #2on my blog's sidebar. Go give a leprechaun a kiss for luck and enter. *g*

*There are 14 stories in Home Improvement:Undead Edition, but I've already read mine a trillion times, so I gave it a miss this read through *g*
